Summer is waning, but keep your glow is going! Giorgio…
One of the surprising trends in skincare is the popularity of anti-aging products for men and women in their 20’s and 30’s, and even younger. Forgive my skepticism, but anti-aging? At 24? What are you hoping for, to look like you are 14 forever? Protect your skin, yes, but don’t fear aging – look like you take care of yourself. Don’t smoke, eat lots of fruit and vegetables, break a sweat regularly, keep your skin clean and most of all: slap on your sunscreen.
There is no question that the very best kind of anti-aging skincare starts with sunscreen; La Prairie skincare has sunscreen coverage choices in abundance and they sum up a great way to look at their anti-aging products: They’ve created
“beautiful and beneficial cosmetic treatment to reveal a younger, fresher and flawless face… a silken veil of age-altering colour to promote a smooth, radiant complexion.”
They really do, too!
La Prairie skincare and cosmetics have always held an allure for me, the packaging is so sophisticated and clean, so spa-like, and the MUA I knew who used the skincare and makeup raved about the coverage, the feel and the colors in the line. But wasn’t the whole line, including the Skin Caviar products, well, for…older skin? As it turns out, NO – it’s not just for older skin (although La Prairie makes superb products for aging, dry skin)!
LA Prairie have introduced a wonderful range called Cellular Swiss Ice Crystal Cream and facial oil. I love me a good facial oil, and I love La Prairie’s so much, I started sampling the tried-and-true La Prairie, including the gold standard, the Skin Caviar products. They are so cool looking — the little beads of “Caviar” floating in the gels and creams that you can see through the clear containers. If you see the Skin Caviar beads in a jar, you know it’s La Prairie. I’ve been in heaven, trying all of the different Skin Caviar and Cellular Swiss Ice Crystal products.
So…When Enzo Mastrantionio, the head Makeup Artist on PENNY DREADFUL told me that he preferred La Prairie’s Skin Caviar Foundation-Concealer ($200), and adored the powders (Enzo’s favorite powder for use on set is La Prairie), I had to try as many products as I could, and I was thrilled, too. Each bottle of Skin Caviar Concealer Foundation SPF 15 has a matching concealer in the cap, and Enzo uses the foundation alone or mixed — usually with Makeup For Ever liquid foundation — on men and women to create flawless, luminous complexions, even in HD conditions. The La Prairie powder tops it all beautifully.
I’ve come to love the Skin Caviar Concealer Foundation SPF 15 in my kit, too, adding Laura Mercier‘s new High Coverage Concealer or Secret Camouflage as needed – see my earlier post about this fab concealer at: http://mymakeupbagbaby.com/laura-mercier-high-coverage-concealer-swatches/ . The Skin Caviar Concealer Foundation SPF 15 and concealer come in large containers (especially the concealer) so they last a bit longer than most. There is a groovy spatula applicator inside the foundation cap, a swinging cap for the concealer, and a better-than-average sponge applicator (but you still have to wash it, Babies!)
I’ve shown you the Skin Caviar Concealer Foundation SPF 15 in Ivoire, the same shade that Enzo used on Billie Piper as Brona, the plucky prostitute on PENNY DREADFUL, and Enzo also used the foundation (along with Laura Mercier concealers or YSL Touche Eclat) on most of the other characters, male and female: Dorian Gray, Ethan, Sir Malcolm Murray, Dr. Victor Frankenstein, Madam Kali and Mina Harker all have their dewy, luminous skin courtesy of Enzo and La Prairie.
Let me know what you think about this product, Skin Caviar Concealer Foundation SPF 15 and the other Skin Caviar and Cellular Swiss Ice Crystal products. Do they have a place in your makeup bag?
